Applied Magnetics Laboratory

Key Personnel

Dr. Pallavi Dhagat
Co-Facility Director & Associate Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering

Pallavi Dhagat holds a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Washington University, St. Louis, where her research focused on the characterization of thermal reversal of magnetic grains. She has an extensive background in magnetic recording technology as a recording physicist. Prior to OSU, she was a research engineer in the Advanced Concepts Group at Seagate Technology in Minneapolis, where she made significant contributions to the development of perpendicular recording technology. Her research interests include information storage, magnetization dynamics, magnetic nano-metrology, bio-magnetic sensors and distributed sensor systems.

Dr. Albrecht Jander
Co-Facility Director & Associate Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering

Albrecht Jander received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He co-directs AML with Pallavi Dhagat, where they are pushing the boundaries of what can be done with magnetics. Prior to coming to Oregon State University, Albrecht worked on novel magnetic devices for NVE
